Measure Stair Runners
Multi Set Staircases
If you have a staircase with a 90 degree turn you will need to first decide how you want to handle that. There are two most common options. You can cut the runner and have two separate pieces for each set of steps, or you can have the rugs custom cut to be one unified piece across the turn. The second option is not recommended for self-installation but our installers would be happy to help with this service.
If your staircase is spiral or has odd angle turns we recommend having a professional come out and take measurements for you as an install of this nature will require much custom work and they want to make sure enough material is ordered to pattern match around the turns.
Account For Layout
You also want to make sure you consider the layout of the runner you would like on your steps. Do you want a landing at the very top of the steps? Maybe at the bottom? Or do you only want the runner on the rise and run of the steps, each will result in different lengths of runner needed. The last thing you want is to run out of material and not be able to have the look you want. We have provided some visual examples of popular layouts for you to consider.
